THERE ARE MANY CHANGES IN ALL DEPARTMENTS PLEASE READ ALL RULES CAREFULLY
 
ANIMAL HEALTH RULES ARE SET FORTH BY THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND MUST BE ADHERED TO
 
PENNSYLVANIA GOAT REQUIREMENTS:
1.
A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within the 30 days prior to the opening date of the exhibition is required.
2.
All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI (the statement is pre-printed on the CVI). Animals appearing unhealthy upon arrival may not enter the exhibition grounds.
3.
An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accompany each animal, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.
4.
Individual official animal identification is required. Official ID includes:
 
a.
A scrapie eartag. Contact the USDA to obtain scrapie eartags at 1-866-873-2824, weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM.
 
b.
Your order may take several weeks for processing, so order tags early; or
 
c.
An ISO-compliant RFID tag; or
 
d.
A scrapie tattoo. Goats with an official scrapie tattoo must have a unique individual animal ID (tattoo) to meet the scrapie ID requirement; or
 
e.
Goats having a breed registration tattoo and accompanied by a registration certificate are exempt from the scrapie ID requirement if the tattoo is legible and a registration certificate (copy acceptable) or a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection which lists the tattoo and registry accompanies the animal at all times during transport from the premises of birth.

 OUT OF STATE GOATS:

1.
A Certificate of veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within the 60 days prior to the opening date of the exhibition is required. The CVI shall include a statement verifying that “all animals identified on this Certificate of Veterinary Inspection have been examined and found to be free from Vesicular Stomatitis (VS). During the past 90 days, these animals have neither been exposed to VS nor located within 10 miles of a site where VS has been diagnosed.” All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required on the CVI (the statement is pre-printed on the CVI form).
2.
An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accompany each animal, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.
3.
Individual official animal identification is required. Official ID includes:
 
a.
An official USDA scarapie eartag. Contact the USDA to obtain scrapie eartags at 1-866-873-2824 weekdays from 9AM to 5 PM. Your order may take several weeks for processing, so order tags early; or
 
b.
An ISO-compliant 15-digit eartag (including RFID); or
 
c.
A USDAA-approved custom scrapie eartag; or

e.

4.
Tuberculosis Testing:
 
a.
No test is required for animals originating from “Accredited Free” states or zones.
 
b.
All animals originating from states or zones designated “Modified Accredited Advanced” must be test negative within the 60 days prior to importation. The negative test results and date of test must be included on the CVI or the animal must be accompanied by a negative laboratory test report (a copy of the original lab report is acceptable).
 
c.
All animals originating from states or zones designated “Modified Accredited” must originate from herds in which all animals 12 months of age and older have tested negative within the 12 months prior to the date of importation; and the animals to be imported have tested negative within the 60 days prior to the date of importation and at least 60 days after the negative whole herd test was completed. The negative test results and date of test must be included on the CVI or the animal must be accompanied by a negative laboratory test report (a copy of the original lave report is acceptable).

 
CAMBRIA COUNTY RULES:

 
MARKET GOAT:
1.
Goats may have a 1 inch horn. If dehorned, the wounds must be healed.
2.
All project animals must have been bon between January 1 and June 1 of the current year.
3.
All animals must be in the owner’s possession by June 15, 2010.
4.
All animals must be ear tagged and registered with the Extension Office by June 15, 2010.
5.
Market Goats can be Wethers or Does. While raising a Market Goat to market size the 4-H member must keep records as indicated in the 4-H Market Goat Project Book, and fulfill county 4-H requirements.
6.
Animals will be judged in weight classes, not by breeds. Open to any breed or crosses of breeds.
7.
A contestant may register, weigh-in, show and sell 2 Market Goats. Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion must be sold.
8.
The minimum weight for the show and sale of Market Goats is 50 lbs. There is no maximum weight.
9.
Each owner is responsible for contacting and inviting buyers to the sale.
 
SALE REGULATIONS FOR GOATS:
10.
4-H/FFA Market Goat Exhibitors may sell 2 goats through the Cambria County Fair Livestock Sale.
11.
TheGrand and Reserve Grand Champion Goats must be sold in the sale.
12.
Following the Market Show, members are required to inform the Barn Superintendent or Extension staff of animals to be cataloged for the sale. Failure to comply will result in the animal(s) being sold through the Livestock Auction..
 
BREEDING GOATS:
13.
Open to any Boy or Girl currently carrying a 4-H/FFA Meat Breeding Goat Project. Fullblood/Purebred & Percentage Meat Animals must be registered. All non-registered animals will be shown in Crossbred Classes.  Goats shown in Breeding classes cannot be showin in Market Classes or Vice-Versa.
14.
Open to any Boy or Girl currently carrying a 4-H/FFA Meat Breeding Goat Project. Fullblood/Purebred & Percentage Meat Animals must be registered. All non-registered animals will be shown in Crossbred Classes.
15.
COUNTY BRED, this class will consist of any Market Goat, Doe or Wether born in Cambria County. Two entries per member will be allowed.
16.
DAIRY GOATS - Best of The Best Doe, Grand Champions of each of the Seven Breeds. Champions to be shown milked out.
 
SHOWMANSHIP:
17.
Judging after Market Goats - 4-H/FFA members may show an animal in the fitting and showing contest provided it has been carried as a project and is owned by the exhibitor. Please put class number on Entry Form.
 
STOCKMAN:
18.
Judging is Monday at 4:00 PM.
 
GOAT COSTUME CONTEST:
19.
One exhibitor and their goat must be dressed in matching themes.
20.
Judging Wednesday 4:30 p.m.
 
BARN AWARDS:
21.
Goat exhibitors who maintain the most attractive and sanitary exhibits will be eligible for special premiums. Stalls must be decorated for prize money. Inspections will be made unannounced. Awards cannot be given without a name. It is important to put your name on the stall.
In the event a 4-H member animal is not on the Fair Grounds due to sickness, death, or ineligibility, another 4-H Goat may be used in the Showmanship Contest, with the approval of the Livestock Committee/Extension Staff.
