PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS.
PENNSYLVANIA RABBITS:
- An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) form must accompany all Pennsylvania rabbits, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.
- All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases.
OUT OF STATE RABBITS:
1. A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) issued within the 60 days prior to the opening date of the exhibition is required.
2. All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and a statement of this is required in the CVI (the statement is pre printed on the CVI).
3. An Animal Owner or Caretaker’s Verification of Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship )VCPR) form must accompany each animal, and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.
CAMBRIA COUNTY FAIR REQUIREMENTS:
- Identification will be verified upon arrival at the Fair. Livestock will be inspected before being permitted in the barn to be placed in their designated pen. Any signs of contagious or infectious disease will be investigated and a Veterinarian may be contacted for verification at the expense of the exhibitor.
- All Health forms must accompany each animal and must be presented upon arrival at the exhibition.
- If an animal is in question a Veterinarian will be called at the expense of the exhibitor.
- Each rabbit must be individually identified by a legible Tattoo in the Left Ear.
- Rabbits will be screened upon arrival for Health and Show condition. No rabbit showing signs of contagious or infectious disease will be admitted to the show.
- Open Class Exhibitors may enter no more than 2 Rabbits
- No rabbit may compete in more than 1 class.
- All rabbits must be checked into the Rabbit Barn by 2:00 pm, Saturday.
- Feed and water containers must be provided by the owner when rabbits are checked in at the Rabbit Barn.
- WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MARKET ANIMALS, NO ANIMAL MAY LEAVE THE FAIRGROUNDS
BEFORE 5:00 PM SATURDAY, LAST DAY OF FAIR.
- Each 4-H member may show 2 show rabbits and 1 meat pen (Doe & litter are considered as 1 show rabbit).
- Doe & Litter are considered as 1 Show Rabbit. Doe and Litter are limited to 5 Babies.
- Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion (MEAT PEN) must be sold at the livestock sale.
- Show Rabbit tattooing must be completed by the first week of July. All tattoo numbers and classifications must be
turned into the Cambria County Extension Office by August 1.
- In the case of death of any registered project show rabbit, the show rabbit may be replaced up to 1 Week prior to the
opening of the fair. The barn superintendent must be notified immediately of the change.
- Meat pen rabbits must be 4 lb. to 6 lb. each, tattooed and no more than 12 weeks old at check-in day of the fair.
- Rabbits will be weighed only once. No rabbits are permitted to leave the Rabbit Barn before Saturday 5:00pm (last day of fair) without the barn superintendent’s approval.
